Towards Empowered Migrant Youth in Southern Europe
TandEM (Towards Empowered Migrant Youth in Southern Europe) is a regional project, funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) of the European Union, and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in partnership with the European University Association (EUA) and the Italian Islamic Religious Community (COREIS).
1. YOUTH
Youth is one of the most dynamic groups in any society, well placed to pioneer new approaches to build more cohesive societies, and young people represent a significant part of the increasingly diverse resident population in our target countries. Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain are relatively new receiving societies, and for this reason actions and policies to support migrants’ integration are most needed.
2. UNIVERSITIES
The project is grounded in a network of universities, as the places of socialization and first integration for an increasing number of foreign students in Southern Europe, and the ideal places to design a youth-led response to discriminatory and negative narratives on migration.
Our partner universities:
GREECE University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki
ITALY La Sapienza University in Rome, University of Pisa and University of Naples L’Orientale
MALTA University of Malta
SPAIN University of Madrid La Complutense
CYPRUS European University of Cyprus, University of Nicosia, Frederick University
